Mr. Omar Habiba joins the CDR International engineering team

As of October 3rd, 2022, Omar Habiba (MSc.) joined CDR international as a Project Engineer. Omar completed his Master of Science degree in 2022 in from IHE Delft (Netherlands), TU Dresden (Germany), UPC (Spain), and University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), as part of the Erasmus Mundus Joint master’s degree program, with specialization in flood risk management. During his master thesis, he worked on impact of rainfall and land-use-land-cover changes on urban flood hazard in Alexandria, Egypt.
In addition, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Kyoto University (Japan). During his bachelor thesis, he worked on climate change impact on extreme flash flood events in arid and semi-arid regions.
Omar worked as a researcher at the at the Water Resources Research Centre at the Disaster Prevention Research Institute in Kyoto. During this period, he worked on flash flood assessment/ mitigation of the UNESCO-WHS Petra in Jordan as well as the flash flood and urban flood assessment for other locations in the Arabian Peninsula, Japan, and in Egypt. Moreover, he worked as a specialist hydrologist at Nippon Koei Ltd., Japan’s No. 1 International Engineering Consultants, and he did his bachelor internship at Shimizu Corporation, one of the world’s leading global contracting firms.
At CDR, Omar will put his knowledge about flood modelling and flood risk assessment, especially for data-scarce locations, to use in the international context. CDR wishes Omar all the best in his new endeavour.
