The Government of Georgia (MDF) has commenced a coastal protection in Batumi, aiming at erosion prevention and restoration, especially on the side of the airport and Adlia village section, being southward of Batumi City. Batumi Coast Protection project envisages arranging of approximately 2-km coast protection structure and coast restoration by means of special sand mixture. Aimed at boulevard connecting with the restored coast there will be arranged 12 pedestrian bridges at the length of 20 meters, whereas its width will make up 1, 5m. Struijk was selected to execute the works. CDR’s scope was to recover the existing coastal protection design scheme by proposing a more sustainable and durable solution. After a site visit CDR reviewed the detailed design of the Batumi Coastal Protection project.
Deliverables were:
– Site visit and attending meetings with ADB and MDF;
– Design review;
– Constructability assessment.
