The Government of the Sri Lanka has requested ADB to provide financial assistance for development of fisheries infrastructure facilities in the Northern Province. The project will revive the fisheries sector in the 4 conflict affected coastal districts of Jaffna, Mannar, Mullaitivu, and Killinochchi. The project aims to: (i) develop climate resilient infrastructure facilities, (ii) develop sustainable aquaculture, (iii) improve management of coastal and fishery resources, (iv) strengthen the capacities of the fishery societies and related institutions. The International Harbour Engineer reviews the designs of 2 fishery harbours, 7 anchorages and about 21 landing sites.
CDR’s Expert is working with the design team leader and the PIMU to (i) provide ongoing review of harbour and anchorage design work carried out by the consultant team ensuring that the designs are undertaken according to best international practices; and (ii) support the PIMU in the finalization of the detailed designs. Reviewer has ample experience due to involvement in Dikkowita Fishery Harbour and landing sites in North Sri Lanka. Main aspects in this role are review of design conditions, boundary conditions (waves, morphology), harbour layout and design of maritime constructions, structural design (breakwater, quays), dredging, constructability, etc. Services include site visits, meetings with Government officials, fishery community representatives and ADB.
