ECDR International BV has performed a detailed investigation and remediation design study of a Port Basin revetment in South-east Asia. After construction of revetment works some initial, unexpected settlements of the armour layer occurred which may endanger the stability of the revetment over time. A site visit was performed including high detailed survey of the facing above and below water by drone and bathymetric survey. The bathymetric survey was done by a dual Multibeam system, providing high detail data and highly accurate image of the armour facing below water level. The design, construction and supervision of the project were further analysed in detail to obtain most reliable information and data on the project. Due to time pressure, the whole project has been performed within several months to execute the required works as soon as possible. Based on the investigation study, a physical model testing campaign was performed obtaining the most practical, reliable and cost-efficient remediation design. High attention is paid on the execution aspect of the design to minimize further negative effects. This includes recommendations on a practical design, based on available equipment and expertise, recommendations on specialised equipment to optimize execution of the works and providing supervision and training to the contractor to improve construction quality and speed.
