EGAT of Thailand (EGAT) intends to award an EPC Contract for a berth, jetty and coal handling system for Thepha Power Plant in Songkhla province, Thailand. CHEC has been preparing a bid for the project. The preliminary tender design has been developed by SHDI. CDR, in conjunction with ARCADIS, has executed a Value Engineering Trestle Design Optimisation. As part of this study the geotechnical design, structural design and layout design has been evaluated with respect to loads. The geotechnical design focussed on the length versus the bearing capacity of the piles. The structural design was assessed on construction material, number and type of piles, deck level and trestle length. Optimization of the layout design has been studied based on the required and estimated downtime and mooring configurations.
