For the Colombo Port City Development an optimized design has been proposed in the Value Engineering Study for the Offshore Breakwater. This design needed to be verified by 2D Physical Model Testing, where also overtopping and wave transmission has been measured in high detail for a large range of wave conditions. The design has been verified by 2D physical model testing, performed by DELTARES (Delft, Netherlands) and supervised by the CDR team; final quality control is provided by Prof. Dr. MSc. Jentsje van der Meer. In particular the wave overtopping and wave transmission behaviour of the low-crested breakwater with 17 tons Chinapode armour for varying water levels and wave spectra are of scientific interest and provided necessary data for further studies (beach stability, structural design of other marina works).
